Inter-generational Community-Engaging Residency

  • This residency is a research project funded by the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at Brock University and the Niagara Housing Authority
  • The residency aims to engage residents in recreational and social activity programming within the building and the community, in exchange for housing for the year during the Master of Applied Gerontology program.
  • This research project is designed to determine the benefits of a future Gerontologist living with/building connections with residents and supporting their quality of life.
  • Awarded to one MAG student per year

Coordinated unit activities for 12 mobile residents with Advanced Dementia

Working with a Psychologist at the George Darte Funeral Home in St. Catherines, ON, to develop Grief Support packages targeting older adults and caregivers of people with chronic illness and/or dementia.

Contributing to 3 active Grief Support groups running through the funeral home, including one for older adults, those who have lost children, and young families who have lost a parent

Supporting staff to deliver End-of-Life Planning Seminars at local Long-Term Care facilities

St. Thomas University Gerontology Society, 09/2022, 05/2023. This society benefits students and older adults through intergenerational events, and provides education on topics related to gerontology while representing the Gerontology Department within the student body at STU.


ACAA Women’s Volleyball Team, St. Thomas University, 09/2019, 05/2022, Outside Hitter. I practiced 7 times/week plus games within Maritime Provinces and USA. Role included mental preparation training, fitness training, skill development, yoga, nutrition counseling, plus team court training
