Clinical Practicum

Odyssey House - January - February 2025 

Through this, I will practice ethics and evidence-informed approaches to community health nursing, including primary health care, population health, health maintenance and promotion, and disease and injury prevention. The course also explores concepts of community-based assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation with the community as a client. In the practicum portion, I will work with the vulnerable population that needs access to resources offered through Odyssey House.


Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Unit 22 - October - December 2024 

The practicum provided me with opportunities to integrate, consolidate, and expand concepts from previous learning to advance my professional nursing practice. I had the opportunity to consolidate learning and advance their clinical decision-making in a variety of acute care settings.


Northern Addiction Center Detox - September - October 2024 

This mental health practicum provides opportunities to acquire knowledge, skills, and attitudes to promote wellness through safe, ethical nursing practice. I had the opportunity to further develop my therapeutic communication skills while working with vulnerable populations and to focus on nursing practices related to mental health and addiction.


Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Unit 12 - January - March 2024

This practicum in acute care settings further develops knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide safe, ethical patient care for adults with episodic and chronic health challenges. I focused on developing further skills for the earlier practicum and worked on assessment, clinical reasoning, care planning, and documentation in paper and digital formats. 


Mackenzie Place - September - December 2023 

During this practicum in acute care, I worked on developing beginning knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide safe, ethical patient care for adults with episodic and chronic health challenges. Working within a team of health care aides, licensed practical nurses and Registered nurses. I performed various skills, including communication between myself and clients as well as other health professionals, assisting with ALDs, medication administration, simple dressing changes and documentation
