Forest Technician Summer Student
NORTH NOVA FOREST OWNERS CO-OP LTD

- Provided technical assistance to landowners for better forest stewardship, enhancing both economic and ecological benefits. The main focus at North Nova was ecological forestry management.
- Used technological advanced tools such as GPS devices to track work progress efficiently (specifically Avenza maps and Qfield). I did this a lot when it came to scouting woodlots severely impacted by hurricane Fiona.
- I used aerial interpretation in order to determine species composition of different forest stands. I would also delineate stands for future harvesting practices. This was done via QGIS.
- Created maps for woodlot management plans that we would give to members of the co-op. These maps were created with combined data from Avenza Maps, QGIS, and Qfield.
- Helped scale firewood.
- Put together temporary bridges using timbers for truckers to use to get wood in and out of secluded areas.
- Operated a less then 250 gram drone in order to take areial photos of wind damaged woodlots.

- Worked as a security officer at the McCarthy Hall vaccine clinic and was later transferred to the Truro NSCC campus security team in the fall. By the spring of 2022, I was promoted to the security supervisor. I then went on to leave the position in the fall of 2022 to pursue an education in natural resources.
- I returned in the spring of 2023 to work part time as a regular guard as I continued my schooling before I went on to complete my placement.

- After graduating high school I worked at Ski Wentworth as a ski lift operator. Some of my tasks while working this job involved running the main ski lift, checking skiers for the proper passes, running the bunny hill conveyer lift, and clearing walkways.
- I worked with the public in a friendly matter in order to make sure they were following the rules of the lift while they enjoyed their time on the hill.
- I had to always keep my head on a swivel and be alert of my surroundings while running the lift incase somebody tried to get on it improperly.
