Work History

Construction Fabrication co-op

Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA)
05.2023 - 08.2023
  • Collected progress updates related to the construction and/or fabrication of the different parts of the Bridge, Michigan Interchange, US Port of Entry and Canadian Port of Entry
  • Communicated with employees, private-sector partner employees (Bridging North America), and inspectors to gather information on the progress of fabrication done by Contractors/Subcontractors
  • Tracked and followed-up with inspectors to collect details of the visits made to fabrication facilities and updating large Excel sheets using Macros and VBA
  • Developed monthly reports on Microsoft Word comprised of accurate progress updates and information gathered throughout the start of the project, related to the fabrication of the Bridge, Michigan Interchange and Port of Entries
  • Scheduled dates of visits for inspectors, sent email reminders to inspectors to submit visit summary reports, and collected any observation notes, from those summary reports, related to Quality

Ambassador

We Make Change club
09.2019 - 06.2021
  • Organized and raised funds for Manitoba Hydro
  • Promoted and presented club's vision to multiple groups of people in two languages, Arabic and English

Participant

WAMY (World Assembly of Muslim Youth)
09.2017 - 06.2018
  • Competed and represented school in a technical competition against other schools, won and received an award
  • Prepared for competition by learning how to solve cryptograms, a Rubik's cube, studying various era's of Islamic history, and reviewing what was learned in Math and Physics in previous years
  • Devised a schedule to ensure success in both the school competition and exams, as the competition was during exam week
  • Achieved great scores in all 9 exams and won the competition

Projects

Inverting Amplifier Circuit

Designed, built, and tested an inverting amplifier-based circuit using LTspice simulation, a generator, oscilloscope, breadboard and supply voltage. Measured and calculated the cut-off frequency and voltage gain both by hand, by simulation, and by practical experimentation. Plotted the input v.s. output voltage and magnitude v.s. phase response on LTspice and oscilloscope.

Polynomial Curve Fitting Assignment

Wrote a MATLAB program with a menu script and two functions with the job of either calculating the specific heat using temperature inputted by the user and develop a plot of the specific heat vs. Temperature, or quit the program. Devised a documentation file with detailed program description to provide users with the information on how to run the program. Included proper documentation on each program file, by leaving comments explaining each command set in the program; allowing for other programmers to understand the program.

Rube Goldberg Machine

Collaborated with a team of 6 to design and build a Rube Goldberg Machine. Wrote a group design report of its functions and ergonomics; introduced report to professor and achieved a great score. Documented meeting minutes, member roles, resources required, and design constraints to ensure the machine fits design objectives.

Mapping a Magnetic Field Around a Disc Magnet On its Edge

Calibrated an IOLab apparatus and deployed the 'accel-magn-gyro' calibrations; the IOlab acts as a magnetometer to measure the magnetic field strength and record the values. Constructed a magnetic field by taping a magnet to a blank piece of paper standing vertically up. Measured the magnetic field from 12 points, 3 on each side of the magnet. Rotated the IOlab around the magnet until one of the components read zero. Leveraged Excel, by creating a plot of the Magnetic field v.s. position and included a legend, R-squared value, and a trendline. Provided a detailed report of data collection and data analysis, and a grade of A was attained.

3D Printer

Collaborated with a team of 4 to research and design an FDM 3D printer on AutoCAD, leveraging software and technical skills, and created a group design report. Assigned member roles, as team coordinator, to complete group assignments such as, a decision matrix, team contract, and meeting minutes report of the 3D printer. Applied decision-making tools such as an SDS (System Design Specifications) table, CDS (Component Design Specifications) table, and a concept evaluation to assure the teams design follows costumer needs and design constraints. Drew orthographic projections, isometric views, exploded isometric views and assembly drawings using AutoCAD, and included it in the group report to better explain the design.

Foam Board House

Cooperated with a team of 5 to build a small prototype floor plan of a house out of foam board. Assigned member roles, as team leader, acquired materials needed, scheduled meetings, and documented meeting minutes. Created a design and sketch of the house interior to fit design and size constraints, by choosing measurements following the desired height and weight to fit through classroom door and weigh less than one kilogram.
