Used excel to clean and standardize data used statistics functions to calculate profit margins, transferred to tableau and created dashboard to display data to help make insightful business decisions as per below.


  • Arrived on a few notable conclusions, company is overall not making profit in the following categories:

Bookcases, supplies and tables.

As a recommendation, it would be recommendable to look into cost reduction measures for these categories and potentially look for cheaper shipping methods for these products to move them towards profitability.


  • Profitability per discount rate depicts that company overall did not make profit when offering profits over 25%, so this would be another key metric to keep in mind while setting up discounts.


  • Company was not profitable in the Central region, a price hike for this region might be a drastic measure that the company might have to take. Adjacent to this, average discount offered per region shows discounts offered in Central region were 45% higher compared to other regions.
