  • A social developmental fellowship in Islamabad, Pakistan that equips young individuals with the knowledge, support system and practical wisdom to drive long-lasting, positive change in society.
  • It introduces the youth to the harsh realities of the rural and peri-urban communities in need; it consists of coursework and practical projects that happen in parallel.
  • All fellows were divided into groups based on their desired sustainable developmental goal and social issue.
  • Led a team of 5 in a pursuit of tackling the drug problem within an all boys middle-school, The Citizen's Foundation, in a rural and drug infested village in Pakistan called Athal.
  • Networked and built strong connections with locals, interviewing dozens of individuals with a rural background.
  • Collaborated with team to optimize workflow and achieve objectives.
  • Applied research technique to determine effectiveness of alternate recreational interventions, like sports and board games.
  • Collaborated with the school administration and successfully integrated our plan in the students' curriculum.
  • Provided the school with board games for each class and had a slot set up where they would only play with each other.
  • A volleyball net was set up and 7 volleyballs were provided to the school for recess.
  • A designated class on drug awareness was set up and teachers were provided with booklets, pamphlets, and posters on relevant information.
  • A school head-boy system was introduced to provide a sense of leadership.
  • A trial run was conducted with all these classes side by side by my team members and I. The second was conducted by their teachers while we supervised.
  • A whatsapp group was set up to keep in contact with the administration to ensure these classes were taking place once every week.
  • I was able to communicate with people different from me, lead a team, navigate situations that would put my life at danger in a foreign place, dealt with outbursts of locals at the mention of drugs. I Investigated and reported various illegal activities, like an active meth lab and marijuana fields in the middle of the village. I dealt with threats.
  • However, what's most important is that I put smiles on the faces of young children deprived of fun things to do and forced into drug dealing and drug abuse at the hands of their own families. This was not another activity for me to put on a resume, this was a chance for me to change hundreds of lives and hopefully rescue those poor souls from the filth they have to live in.
