ROLE: Nurse general pediatric ward patients, and critically ill neonates in NICU and pediatric patients in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Duties included:

-Closely monitoring patients' vital signs, fluid input, output, mediation compliance, completing care plans, prepping for operative procedures, management post-operative, change of simple and complex dressing, and nursing patients on nebulizers, and oxygen.

-Additionally, preparing special medication infusions and cocktails fluid infusions. Nursing neonates under phototherapy, and inserting and feeding a neonate via nasogastric and Orogastric tubes.

-Actively participating in ward emergencies, CPR and emergency drug administration.

-Responsibilities also included nursing adult patients in adult ward, ICU and emergency department when no pediatric patients were admitted.

ROLE: Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill children in an intensive care setting in order to achieve overall better patient outcome.

Duties included:

-Perform a full patient assessment and recognize deterioration in patient status through clinical assessment.

-Carry out nursing care of a ventilated patients and to troubleshoot problems.

-Assist intubation and extubation of patients with ability to perform all safety checks before procedure with the physician.

- Perform effective CPR, and administer ordered emergency drugs in order to revive patients during an emergency.

-Confidently nurse patient’s on ventilator, Air-Vo, CPAP, tracheostomy care and wall oxygen.

-Carry out special nursing care like under water seal drainage, assist in tapping, IA/IV/long line insertion and maintenance under aseptic technique.

-Able to maintain compliance to infection control through proper practice and enforcement.

-Able to work in a team and maintain continuous education and learning in a shift. Have knowledge of all the machines used in PICU especially setting up and passing the ventilator, interpreting readings on the cardiac monitor, ECG and the different infusion pumps.

-Interpret test results accurately and rely results to pediatricians. -Provide specialized, and skilled care through a high level of autonomy and authorization in order to provide and supervise critically ill children in an intensive care setting in order to achieve overall better patient outcome.

ROLE: Pediatric Nurse Care for critically ill neonates needing ICU care through close and specialized nursing care.

Duties included:

-To nurse critically ill preterm and growing preterm closely for signs for respiratory distress, loss in weight or NEC.

-Refer abnormal findings to a doctor and manage care plans.

-Nurse and educate patients in Kangaroo ward (ward for preterm babies to room in with their mother/caregiver before discharge).

-Able to assist doctors in reviving critically ill neonates by performing CPR, assisting in surfactant administration, emergency drugs preparation, and administration.

-Nurse a patient’s on ventilator, Air-Vo, CPAP, tracheostomy and wall oxygen and am able to identify patient deterioration and troubleshoot problems using DOPE, assess patients’ hemodynamic status on the ventilator and able to refer accordingly refer timely to the doctor.

-Nurse extremely ill preterm babies and provide them with special care and aid them in their growing process.

-Identify a deteriorating neonate and administer immediate action in order to stabilize the neonate and refer to a doctor immediately.

-Supervise and guide junior nurses, trainee staffs in their learning process at NICU.

-Preparing special infusions e.g. inotropes, antiepileptic infusion, bolous, ½ Saline, KCL infusion, drug administration and intravenous medication administration to neonates.

-Enhance and promote breastfeeding to mothers and educate them on the benefits of breastfeeding while aiding them in proper attachment and positioning.

-Administrating ordered platelet infusions, blood transfusions, and FFP transfusion to patients and monitor them closely for signs of adverse reaction.

-Maintain compliance to infection control through proper practice and enforcement of strict hand hygiene and special line care, timely changing of fluid bags and IV lines, identifying the potency of opened and mixed medications.

-Have knowledge of all the machines used in NICU especially setting up and passing the ventilator, interpreting readings on the cardiac monitor, ECG and the different infusion pumps.

ROLE- Pediatric Nurse Nursing general ward pediatric patients needing close monitoring, fluids, medications and special procedures, and surgeries.

Duties included:

-Monitoring vital signs, fluid intake and output closely for pediatric patients.

-Closing monitoring BP, fluid intake and output, special diet, medication compliance monitoring for cardiac, Nephrotic, and RHD pediatric patients.

-Close monitoring of patients on oxygen, epilepsy Patients and asthmatic patients.

-Nursing pediatric patients that are planned to go for surgery i.e.: planned for eye, orthopedics surgery or fixation, and general surgery (appendectomy, colectomy, amputation, biopsy)

-Pre and post operative care of these patients.

-Traction care, nursing patients with fractures, and nursing children admitted due to motor vehicle accident.

-Nursing and caring for patients with severe dehydration, severe malnutrition, and moderate malnutrition.

-Preparing and administering intravenous and oral medication to pediatric patients.

ROLE- Intern Nurse. Worked in Coronary Care and Women’s medical Ward unit for 3 months after internship rotation.

Duties included:

-To learn and practice the nursing responsibilities of each unit and ward in the hospital and gain knowledge, skills, and experience in each rotation.

-Admitting and discharging patients and providing them health education.

-Performing CPR, preparing, and administering ordered emergency medications.

-Proper documentation of events and care as per nursing standards.

-Perform full nursing assessment on admitted and discharge patients.

-Providing continues health education to patients.
