  • My last semester at Cal Poly Pomona I volunteered working with children ages 3-5 years old. In the morning I would arrive and sit with the children interacting with them. Then go with them for circle time to begin their day in which I would encourage them to participate and have fun. I would assist the teacher and aides by cleaning up the classroom. I would also observe the children seeing what their interests are in which helped me create them two lesson plans I needed to present. In which I incorporated hands on learning and movement in the activities. During lunch time I would be sitting close by to them making sure that everything was good. Once it was nap time I would go around making sure they were covered with their blankets. Would move around sitting by them reassuring them that they were okay. Assuring the children I was there to help them and make them feel safe in their learning environment.

Child Development Center Cerritos College

01.2020 - 03.2020
  • My last semester at Cerritos college I was placed at my school's child development center. During my time I would go in the afternoon in which I was responsible to bring the children's snacks and set it up in the table area. Then I would ask them to get ready to go in line to wash their hands and sit in their spots to eat their snacks. I was in charge of checking off the list of students that were in the classroom and the ones that were absent. Then add up the number of children that were present and give it to my mentor teacher. The center was Reggio Emilia inspired in which they were encouraged to explore on their own. I would also help organize the classroom and make sure everything was in place. Most importantly interact with the children learn what their interests are to help them develop and grow.
