  • Work on large size assemblies comprising of hundreds of parts for Pre-Conditioned Air Units, Power and Frequency Converters, Pit Systems and Ground Support Equipment for Airports.
  • Lead and mentor a team of off-shore engineers, scoping their work, assigning tasks, and checking their design work and output to ensure deadlines are being met and company metrics are achieved. Create Tracking sheets to document the projects’ status and progress and report to the Engineering Manager.
  • Work on all aspects of the design process from conceptual design to layout, to production release and manufacturing support.
  • Design all mechanical parts of the units including frames, sheet metal enclosures and piping.
  • Use SW Draftsight for line drawings including electrical and refrigeration schematics.
  • Make new designs or re-design units to meet customer requirements or for cost reduction initiatives.
  • Identify and source off-the-shelf components needed for the design.
  • Create and release drawings for production.
  • Create and maintain BOMs in Business Central
  • Work closely with the production team (factory), modify designs when needed to make use of parts available in-house. Support the production team by providing flat patterns and other files needed for the fabrication of panels and other parts.

  • Redesigned / restructured the unit by creating modules, thereby reducing the number of drawings needed for each project, cutting cost and turnaround time.
  • Redesigned unit enclosures for cost reduction by minimizing welds and making use of the same parts and panels for different units.
  • Redesigned “like” units for standardization. This allowed the use of the same frame and enclosure, to minimize inventory count.
  • With a team of Refrigeration and electrical engineers we were able to design and prototype a PCA unit from scratch with all models and drawings done within 6 months.
