Since the oil crash of 2016 i have been working various general construction and landscaping jobs which involves heavy manual labor on a day to day basis. I have worked on several rigs in the past. I'm looking to get back into the oil exploration working on drilling rigs. As hard as it is working on the rigs I've really enjoyed meeting new people and traveling to new areas of the country. The job has taught me hard work, organization and multi tasking skills which i used in all other jobs since then. But lately I've been finding myself to get back into the drilling industry. I miss the work life balance that it provides.
I dismantle, clean, and rebuild machine components. When called upon for help by the machine operators i have to trouble shoot and replace parts if needed. Perform change overs, getting the machine ready for the next product.
our highest priority task is working the rig floor, disconnecting drill string with tongs while tripping in and out of the hole and making mouse hole connections or laying singles down the ramp. while tripping we performed flow checks and slip & cuts. Duties while not on the rig floor involved cleaning invert/mud & grime off all the surfaces of the rig for example mud tanks, bop stack and the cellar, crawl space, rig floor, tool house, dog house, motor rooms, boiler rooms, mud can, pretty much everywhere. organizing and maintaining the tool house, measuring drill string, removing thread protectors, clearing debries out of the pipes. keeping the matings outside clear of snow and ice. rig down rig up, grinding and re painting surfaces. keeping the lease organized and garbage free. assisting the derrick and motor hand with their duties when needed. my passed experience on the rigs taught me how to become a good multi tasker.
