As a permanent older sister and a long-time counselor and educator, working with children has curated my sense of patience, empathy, and desire to connect and learn, while also honing my organization, time management, and adaptability skills. I have had experience in fostering positive relationships and creating engaging experiences for children of all ages, and am excited to hopefully get to make more!
Originally as a volunteer for four years, I eventually shifted into a paid senior camp counselor for an additional summer! Primarily focused on staying outdoors and unplugged, counselors were tasked with keeping campers engaged with nature and their companions, while also staying safe.
Based on the UCDavis campus, Youth Programs provides several different camps for children to choose from. Specifically, I was a camp counselor for the Arts department, focused in Drawing and Painting! The children I worked with ranged from ages 7 to 10, both girls and boys.
Working in a primarily Spanish speaking elementary school, I worked with bilingual children in the fourth grade. We focused mainly on math tutoring, but also facilitated reading as well.
The UCDavis public bus transportation system primarily used by students, Unitrans has been around for decades. I work for the HR Team, specifically geared more towards employee satisfaction and recruitment.
