Accomplishments

As a life long volunteer with a strong commitment to the wellbeing of children and their families I have volunteered on several local. provincial and national boards.


Volunteer for over 45 years at the IWK Health Centre moving throughout the system from rocking/comforting babies to joining and leading the IWK Auxiliary (served in many capacities including President).


Represented the Auxiliary on the Health Centre Board of Governance before becoming a full member of the board.


Active on several Board committees including Standards, Finance, Ethics and Chair of Audit Committee.


Founding member of the merged Board of the IWK Grace. Chair of By-Laws for the new Board and Board Ethics co chair.


Active Lay Member of the Research Ethics Board over several years as the Board evolved under the leadership of several Research Directors. Contributed leadership in growing the Research Profile at the IWK.


Served on the Editorial Board of the National Council Research Ethics Medical, involved in the merging of the 3 Councils into one

(SHERC Medical Science and NSHERC).


Contributed to the written handbook on the Role of Lay Members on Science Boards.


In more recent years:


Active Board member on the Council for Early Child Development representing the Maritime provinces on this newly formed Board under the leadership of Dr. Fraser Mustard and Her Honour Margaret Norrie McCain. The work of this Board led to the Federal commitment to support $10 a day day for child care across Canada.


Also actively led Church and School activities while my children were under 18.


Recent Past President of the Guild of my Church.

I am mother 0f 2 adult children with spouses and grandmother to 5 children under 16.
