Director - Platform

Nautical Commerce
09.2022 - Current
  • Company Overview: Nautical Commerce is a multi-vendor e-commerce platform
  • Role: Managing the technical engineering, support and technical writing team and the technologies for both internal technology operations, building integrations with other SaaS partners via APIs and delivery/integration of our SOC2 compliant SaaS solution with clients’ systems and business operations.
  • Technologies: Google Cloud Platform / HubSpot / QuickBooks Online / Stripe
  • Projects: Nautical Commerce platform infrastructure deployed in Kubernetes PostGreSQL DB / GitHub Actions with HoneyComb.io logging
  • Implemented dashboard and storefront Reporting/Analytics via PostHog
  • Built financial reporting integration with QuickBooks Online for syncing orders and payments
  • Company and customer reporting built via BigQuery and visualization done in Looker, Mode and Explo
  • Implemented Nautical Commerce in Zapier as a generally available integration and implemented the Prismatic.io embedded integration platform (em-iPaaS) into the Nautical Commerce platform

  • Company Overview: Top Hat is the higher education app that makes active learning come to life.
  • Role: Managed the teams (15 reports) and technologies supporting the Top Hat organization for FinOps, RevOps and DataOps – including NetSuite and Salesforce developers, integration specialists and data engineers/scientists.
  • Successfully integrated 3 acquisitions both for business (sales, finance, data) and technology (cloud migration) operations.
  • Technologies: AWS Data Warehouses/PostGreSQL, Data Lakes, BI Tools, Celigo iPaaS, Salesforce, NetSuite, SalesLoft, BigCommerce, Stripe
  • Projects: Consolidated disparate data sources from both internal and external systems – Top Hat platform metrics, BigCommerce / Stripe payments, learning management systems (LMS) – into one consolidated data warehouse with security for access levels, tracking and making PII data for use by executives, product and engineering, finance, marketing as well as schools.
  • Built integration using Orderful EDI API, Celigo iPaaS and NetSuite APIs to ingest and process (orders, payments, fulfillment) physical book orders from Amazon and North American schools.
  • Migrated 3 acquisition’s systems to our AWS cloud from their clouds or on premise systems.

  • Company Overview: TouchBistro is the one of the most successful SaaS-based POS/Payments companies to emerge on the Toronto technology ecosystem.
  • Responsible for: management of the entire cloud infrastructure (AWS) and CI/CD pipeline, procurement and evolution of key operational SaaS solutions (such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Zuora) and management of the development team for internal integrations for M&A (3 tech companies integrated), revenue operations, support, finance, sales and marketing departments - overseeing approximately $4M/year in SaaS/IaaS spend. Over my tenure, I grew the DevOps and the technical operations teams by 5x with a diverse & contemporary skill set: SREs, DBAs,C#/Node.js/React developers, Salesforce admins and Salesforce developers. In this role I was both a technical hands on developer/SRE and a people manager for over 25 reports.
  • Projects: Responsible for selecting and rolling the Zuora SaaS Subscription billing platform across the TouchBistro organization for customer subscription management integrated with both Salesforce and NetSuite. This includes:
  • Configured the entire TouchBistro catalog and the Salesforce powered Quote-to-Cash flow
  • Migrating all active historical customer and subscriptions from NetSuite to Zuora via CSV extracts and data loads
  • Programmed an integration using both Zuora APIs and NetSuite APIs to sync Zuora orders into NetSuite for fulfillment and payment
  • Migrated several acquisitions into the Zuora platform – both non-Zuora and Zuora-to-Zuora migrations
  • Developed a customer quoting generation flow in Salesforce using both Salesforce and Zuora APIs to optimize the quote-to-cash flow both in terms of speed and accuracy

  • Company Overview: Globalive Communications, successfully launched or acquired several Telecom companies such as Yak Communications, OneConnect and Pragmatic Conferencing, but is most well known for launching WindMobile as Canada’s 4th mobile carrier which was sold to Shaw Communications in 2016 for $1.6B.
  • During my time at Globalive Communications I helped launch or acquire several companies and have assisted in growing it from a a handful of eager engineers to a company of several hundred employees.

  • Led software development team designing innovative web and voice services utilizing many off-the-shelf and open-source technologies for direct sales through Globalive’s portfolio of companies (Yak, OneConnect, Pragmatic) and white-labeling with partners. Held fact-finding and project scope meetings with developers, operations, marketing and finance to ensure deployed systems were fully operational and documented so employees and customers could be trained on their use.
