I started with Valley Reefer as a warehouse dock worker in which Duties included receiving and sorting freight for customer orders including the Use of Power Jacks and Forklifts. This job ended up evolving into a position performing City P&D, and then into a Tractor trailer to deliver and pick up in Greater Victoria and Vancouver Island areas as well as Delta warehouse.
After company was purchased by Kenbrent Refrigerated Express out of Calgary, AB. At this time I became an Owner/Operator picking up and delivering refrigerated LTL freight in BC, Alberta, Washington and Oregon.
Responsible for the safe year round transportation of Refrigerated freight across the Western United States and Canada. Responsible for loading trailer for optimal cube and weight distribution. Arranging of cross border documents for customs . Contacting shippers/receivers for delivery and pick up appointments, Setting reefers to the correct temperatures, including monitoring during transport. Keeping and maintaining log books and pre-trips to meet Hours of Service and regulations. Maintaining and repair of Truck and keeping monthly records accordingly, and making on the road repairs performed when needed.
