I help five modalities (MRI, X-ray, CT, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine), including front desk.
I screen and prep patients for MRI and CT.
When covering the front desk I check-in / explain the conditions of admissions, as well as enter XR orders. I call providers office if the order is wrong.
Set up rooms for exams
Scan documents / orders into synapse
Upload outside images to our system (Life Image), make CD’s (PACS CUBE)
Coordinate and communicate with hospital staff (RN’s, physicians, case management, front desk staff...Etc)
Inform technologists what exams are priority and/or for a specific time
As an Ambassador, I communicate with patients and families regarding their wait times and if they have any questions and/or concerns about their appointment.
I transport patients to and from the ED (If the transport department is delayed, I will pick up / return patients from their inpatient room).
I help transfer patients to gurney/table for all modalities, help hold and position patients (in fluoroscopy and ultrasound majority of the time)
Confirm next day appointments
Stock each modality with linen and supplies
I help train staff on how to use the Hoyer lift (transports a patient with immobility from a wheelchair to a bed or from place to place)
I helped ultrasound clean probes (using a trophon machine) in sterile processing after IR cases.
Schedule appointments for patents from different specialties (oncology, rheumatology, hematology, metabolic, gastroenterology, endocrinology, neurology)
Check in patients and take co-pays
Communicate and coordinate with doctors, nurses, case managers and social workers
Verify oncology outpatient insurance eligibility at the beginning of each month. Notify the patient’s case manager ASAP if they are not eligible.
Communicate with social workers if a patient/family needs a taxi voucher or needs info regarding the Ronald McDonald house or other resources
Break down patient charts at the end of the day after the NP completed reports
Call patient/families to confirm next day appointments
I made sure patients orders were entered for the next day. I called the ordering physician to remind them if order is not entered by 1900 their patient will be rescheduled.
