Shift Supervisor

  • Operate and maintain combined heat power plant including turbines, HRSG’s, water tube boilers, geka boiler, dowtherm boiler, hot water heating system, water treatment and auxiliary equipment.
  • Oversee the daily operation of the plant for 12hr rotating shift schedule.
  • Respond to operational up/down condition, respond to any problems, troubleshoot it and take corrective actions.
  • Perform equipment rounds, record, analyze and communicate with shift engineers and review the logbook.
  • Coordinate and work with the team to maintain water treatment equipment and water chemistry to make it work efficiently.
  • Communicate with safety teams for the regular improvement in safety.
  • Communicate with a utility company for the smooth operation of turbines from the grid power supply.
  • Startup/Shut down turbines, Boilers and Auxiliaries as per the requirement and issue permits as per the work requirements.
  • Perform minor maintenance for powerhouse and auxiliaries, air compressors, water treatment equipment etc.
  • Perform Isolation, Lockout/Tagout and make sure zero energy for any maintenance/inspection work.
  • Perform confined space and working at height tasks and prepare LOTO and permits accordingly.
  • Making sure completion of permits and documentation including shift engineer logbook as required by OE Reg 219/01.
  • Coordinate and work with the contractors, chief engineer and team members for any corrective and preventive maintenance.
  • Check and record everyday utility consumption and monitor inventories.
  • Trouble shoot, Inspection and perform minor maintenance on various operational equipment.
  • Training of co-op students and new hiring.

  • Oversee powerhouse related issues and co-ordinate with chief engineer and shift engineers regarding maintenance and operational issues.
  • Work as the chief in the absence of the chief engineer and co-ordinate with the contractors and provide safety orientation, engineering department and shift engineers for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible to make month end utilities report for the plant; investigate and troubleshoot it if find unusual usage of Utilities and co-ordinate with Chief Engineer about it.
  • Make work orders for any maintenance tasks and take follow up.
  • Make a schedule for tasks during shutdown time and assist the team.
  • Issue necessary permits as per task and encourage team for the work hazard assessment.
  • Key member of pilot project for new reverse osmosis (RO) installation and related routine works.
  • Inspect and maintain fire system and equipment and perform all necessary tasks when fire alarms and sprinkler risers activate and co-ordinate with monitoring company and fire fighters.
  • Cover shift in the absence of shift engineers and take care of routine operation for shift.
  • Perform minor maintenance for powerhouse and auxiliaries, air compressors and ammonia compressors.
  • Perform tasks in one day shutdown like isolation of equipment, LOTO, low water drain test for boilers and take care of the filter room related issues.
  • Frequently perform tasks like drip legs, deaerator level probs blowdowns, oil change for air compressors, blowdowns steam and level transmitters etc.
  • Inspect and calibrate probes for effluent PH, clear well PH and condensate PH frequently.
  • Testing of emergency diesel generator and fire pumps regularly and perform steam traps survey semi-annually with contractors and co-ordinate regarding any issue with it.
  • Taking care of eyewash stations, chemical deliveries and related paperwork and maintaining inventories for chemicals, fire extinguishers and other supplies.
  • Member of Join Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) for continuous improvement for hazard identification and safety observations of powerhouse.

  • Responsible to maintain water tube and fire tube boiler, fuel handling system, air compressors, water tests, daily operations, maintenance and repairs; maintain safety standards, giving suggestions for better procedure, maintain chemical inventory.
