Work History

Student Border Services Officer

Canada Border Service Agency
05.2023 - Current
  • I am currently employed as a student with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). I perform tasks such as processing flights and other office paperwork. I enjoy interacting with people from various different backgrounds and counties that come to Canada for a diversity of reasons. Working at CBSA has helped me to find my voice, and become more confident in my ability to work with and serve a diverse group of people.

Online Orders Associate

Canadian Tire Garden City
Winnipeg, Canada
05.2020 - 08.2022
  • I worked at the Canadian Tire online orders team for two years. I was able to develop my leadership skills through working on the team as well as managing a fast paced work environment. One of the things I enjoyed while working at Canadian Tire was being in a position where others can rely on me as I was able to discover my leadership style.

Tedx Speaker/Organizer Volunteer

Maples MET School
Winnipeg, Manitoba
01.2021 - 06.2021
  • During my senior year in high school, I had the opportunity to participate in organizing a TEDx event for my school, for which I was encouraged to then present a talk with my mentor, Mitch Bourbonniere. Using previous conference planning experience, I was able to present ideas based on the event's theme, which resulted in the mentor-mentee presentations. I was able to further develop my public speaking and speech preparation skills during this experience.

Intern/ Mentee

Mitch Burbonniere
Winnipeg, Canada
09.2019 - 06.2021
  • I interned with Mitch for around two years, which consisted of shadowing him, as well as working alongside him. I got a variety of experiences during my time with him, as I got to work with and learn about various Indigenous-run and non-Indigenous nonprofit organizations in the Winnipeg inner city that Mitch is involved with through his work. I got to develop my confidence, as well as my knowledge on the issues and barries experienced by those living on the streets. During this time, I discovered my passion for social justice issues in the inner city.

Student Representative

Mantioba Association of School Superintendents
Winnipeg, MB
09.2019 - 02.2020
  • I was part of a student group for the Educating for ACTion conference, put on by the Manitoba Association of School Superintendents (MASS). As a representative of my school division, I, alongside my fellow students, ensured that topics important to students were discussed, and student participation was a central theme for the conference. Being a part of this student group helped me become more confident in my voice, and in the things and ideas I offered. I also learned valuable skills, such as public speaking, during this experience.

Intern

Arthur E. Wright Community School
Winnipeg, Canada
11.2018 - 06.2019
  • I interned with a guidance counselor at a K-12 middle school and assisted two classrooms of grade 1 and 2 students with their learning. I acted as an assistant to the two teachers, giving special attention to students who seemed to be having a harder time. I developed a better knowledge of the reasons why certain students had a harder time in the classroom, and what could be done to better facilitate their learning experience.
