In my current roll I'm responsible for:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for all wine packaging categories including contract negotiations, supplier selection, and risk management aligned with company goals
  • Find opportunities to reduce costs, improve quality and efficiency across the portfolio
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable and Cost Accounting teams on continuous improvements of automation, timely payments, discounts, obsolete materials and best inventory practices
  • Provide mentorship to the procurement team and provide opportunities for development
  • Establish performance metrics and clear goals
  • Develop and lead process for packaging changes and execution of NPDs in collaboration with Brand Managers
  • Provide packaging solutions that are aligned with brand identity, sustainability goals, and bottling capabilities
  • Create and maintain systems for tracking timelines and due dates for packaging artwork, label approvals and packaging orders that are aligned with bottling schedules
  • Collaborate with brand and marketing teams on deadlines and ensure materials are on track for required delivery dates
  • Collaborate with Quality team to qualify all new packaging and set expectations with marketing and brand teams on specifications and tolerance
  • Initiate trials with Quality team based on new market trends, innovation, and in collaboration with Brand & Marketing team
  • Generates materials replenishment plan for all brands and ensure that materials are properly ordered and delivered to the jobsite to support production schedules
  • Places orders with vendors based on established economic order quantities
  • Ensures PO’s are created in NAV with accuracy in volume, delivery dates, and costs
  • Tracks changes to bottling schedule and update Purchase Orders as necessary calling out risk to potential out of stock situations or suggesting alternatives to the schedule
  • Works with our warehouses, bottling sites and QC to ensure goods are received and meet specifications, quality standards and approved specs
  • Assists in monitoring packaging inventory levels across bottling sites and warehouses
  • Investigates discrepancies and mitigate write-offs
  • Coordinates disposal or recycling of obsolete packaging
  • Works with other departments regarding production goals, timelines, supplier payments
  • Coordinates scheduling of transfer of materials between bottling sites and warehouses
  • Supports Supply Chain team in continuous improvement of systems and processes, including written SOP’s and management of change
  • Assists with ordering ad-hoc supplies needed for bottling
  • Ensures accuracy of packaging related data and back up for NAV workflow approvals of BOM’s and Item Card changes
  • Leads regularly scheduled bottling calls
  • Manage NAV production data including bill of materials, routings, and related data
  • Oversee accuracy of master data for material and finished goods specs
  • Maintain standard costs for materials
  • Maintain constant communication with Bottling to track changes to bottling schedule and update orders as necessary calling out risk to management if there are potential out-of-stock situations or suggesting alternatives to the schedule
  • Coordinate with warehouse and QC to ensure goods are received and align with orders placed according to approved specs
  • Coordinate inventories of bottling materials at multiple sites
  • Investigate discrepancies and mitigate write-offs
  • Supervise transfers of materials between bottling sites
  • Effectively communicate any changes in BOM’s, specs, or other related data to all relevant teams
  • Manage packaging spec documents, part codes, UPC & SCC Master
  • Manage the internal label approval process
  • Track changes, final alcohol approvals from Winemaking, Marketing and Compliance reviews and sign-offs
  • Document changes and ensure final jpgs and proofs are filed
  • Estate bottling support: prepare bottling documents, assist with materials check-in, case labeling, transfers out, and scrap
  • Coordinate the prompt delivery of all materials needed for special repacks for various projects
