Summary
I just recently moved to Windsor, ON to continue my studies in Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), Honours at University of Windsor. I currently am in a School Health clinical placement, which has grown my interest in health teaching and public health. I currently work on the Cognitively Complex and Continuing Care unit at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, ON. I enjoy nursing as it provides so many different opportunities and fulfills my love of helping people feel their best and live productive lives. Outside of work I enjoy cooking, socializing with friends and family, working out and walking with my two year old Australian Shepherd, Eddie.

- I currently work on the Cognitively Complex & Continuing Care unit where I work with adults that experience disease processes and conditions such as Dementia, Alzheimer's, Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Borderline Personality Disorder, etc. that are unable to live in the community at nursing or group homes, or with their families, due to the extent of their condition. We work on managing their conditions so they become less aggressive and/or threatening physically and/or verbally. We spend a lot of time doing and promoting holistic care here, I regularly work with all members in the patient's care circle including family members.
- I started on the Acute Medicine and General Medicine units, where I learned many different skills and disease processes very quickly. I frequently worked with patients with COPD, Sepsis, UTIs, Delirium, GI bleeds and conditions, CHF, MIs, fractures not requiring surgery, etc. This is a fast paced unit where I developed excellent time management skills, as I cared for five acute patients at one time.
- While working on the Medicine units, there was a COVID-19 pandemic and the Acute unit was turned into the "COVID unit". For several months I worked with COVID patients where I learned about the disease process in depth as well as the different measures and medications used to treat it. We were managing patients on High-Flow oxygen on the floor as our ICU became overwhelmed.
- I have floated to the Surgical, Emergency and Rehab units for shifts.
- I am very experienced in doing "patient watches", where the person is formed and needs a nurse to constantly visualize and/or provide care as they are a threat to themselves, others or both.
- I work well independently doing expected daily shift tasks such as patient personal care, assessments and vital signs, timely medication passes including intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous medications, checking blood sugars and administering insulin, wound care, oxygen management, tube feed management, proper documentation, and shift hand off communication.
- I work well in team environment to maintain a high level of patient care and safety.
- I follow my employer's procedures and policies, while interacting with my Professional Practice Supervisor regularly to maintain current knowledge and skills.
