Lifestyle Research Team, Department of Public Health and Family Medicine

Research Coordinator and Assistant - 2020 to Present

Western, London, Ontario

  • Coordinator for the national Hockey Fans in Training (Hockey FIT) randomized control trial: a gender-sensitized weight loss and healthy lifestyle program for overweight and obese male hockey fans, implemented in 40+ sites Canada wide and approx. 1000 participants.
  • Managing 5+ sites in Canada and now the USA, coordinating over 110+ participants from recruitment activities to health screening questionnaires, implementation procedures, physical assessments, data entry etc.
  • Demonstrating outstanding diligence, communication, rapport, and organization.
  • Experience with using numerous applications such as Teams, Asana, Excel, Mendeley, Zotero, Excel, Word, OneDrive etc.
  • Member of numerous team projects including literature search teams (creating search strategies, covidence, using MeSH terms and Boolean operators in numerous databases), conducting qualitative analysis, leading focus groups, cleaning transcripts, created and organized the Lifestyle Research Team's literature inventory (700+ articles) etc.

Aging, Mobility, and Cognitive Health Lab (Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Medicine University of British Columbia)

  • Currently assisting post-doctoral research fellow write a secondary analysis of cross-sectional data on the relevant topic of elevated blood pressure and cognitive function in older adults with self-reported subjective cognitive decline. Currently finalizing manuscript in hopes to submit to the Journal of Human Hypertension by April 2022.
  • Assisted by conducting literature review, gathering and analyzing information from relevant journal articles, writing the abstract, introduction, and discussion sections while assisting with the methods and results and overall editing process.
  • Consulted with supervisor for 10+ months and developed close and trusting, professional relationship.
  • Determined to deliver high quality work with unmatched efforts. Self motivated, dedicated to learn and continue improving.


Certified Coach for HealtheSteps Research Study - 2021 to Present

  • Certified HealtheSteps coach for the evidence based, community focused, lifestyle prescription program for individuals looking to adopt a healthier lifestyle by implementing strategies to reduce sedentary behavior, improve physical activity, increase exercise, improve eating habits and mental health.
  • Use coaching protocol to implement 6 month program to improve the health of those in the community through evidence based goal setting, setting virtual meetings and specific plans of action.
  • Coaching 10+ participants on monthly basis, tracking goals, disseminating evidence based information, prescribing exercise, physical activity, and nutrition prescriptions as part of the HealtheSteps program.


Heart and Mind Research Study Volunteer - Jan 2019 to March 2020

  • Involved in participant recruitment, data collection and the implementation of exercise based research project for older adults with hypertension and dementia risk at the Centre Branch YMCA in London, Ontario.

Stroke Rehabilitation Program at Parkwood Main - Sept, 2021 to April, 2022

  • Collaborated with colleagues to implement current stroke best practice guidelines within each discipline to improve stroke care at Parkwood & become an accredited program with the Stroke Distinction designation.
  • Lead and conducted interviews with each clinician (OT, SLP, PT, Physiatrist, Hospitalist, Pharmacist, etc) to document their standardized practices from admission to discharge.
