Operations

  • Daily plant operations monitoring and ensure safe and reliable operation of iso-octane facility which include equipment such as high pressure Siemens steam turbine / Sulzer two-stage series operation gas compressor, turbo-expanders, high pressure hydrogen screw compressors, catalyst reactors, distillation columns, high pressure multi-stage pumps and gas driers.
  • Implement Keyera's safety and operational procedures and standards in performing all facets of work.
  • Ensure all safety documentation is completed for all personnel working in the facilities under operational care, including Safe Work Permits (SWP) and Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs).
  • Lead and participate in site lockouts and supervise third party contractors performing a wide range of maintenance activities in numerous units of the plant.

Operations

  • Operating experience with once-through steam generators (OTSG), cogeneration unit which includes heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) and GE LM6000PH gas turbines (50 MW each), air compressors, vapor recovery units (VRU) and auxiliary equipment such as glycol re-circulation, high pressure pumps, exchangers, gas turbine oil circulation, sulphur recovery unit (SRU).
  • Operated and maintained weak cation exchange (WAC) units, media regeneration systems which uses diluted caustic (sodium hydroxide) and diluted acid (hydrochloric acid), iron filters and chemical pumps.
  • Acted as a turnaround lead with successful completion of turnaround on time and budget.
  • Assisted control room operators in maintaining safe working environment during start-up and shut-down of steam and water re-use plants for maintenance and turnarounds.

Commissioning

  • Worked closely with TIWW and CoEN to commission once through steam generators. That included interlock checks, initial fill, preparation for the initial startup, adjustments of fuel gas regulators and troubleshooting of steam generator trips.
  • Assisted control room operator (CRO) to fill high pressure boiler feed water, fuel gas, glycol and blowdown piping as well as startup of high pressure boiler feedwater pumps and booster pumps.
  • Performed troubleshooting of steam generators and high pressure pump trips during initial startup as well as plant upsets.

Administrative

  • Trained summer students and new operators in the unit.
  • Developed, walked down and executed lockouts / tagouts (LOTOs)
  • Developed, redlined and adhered to standard operating procedures (SOP) and critical operating procedures (COP).
