·Prevention of nutrition related diseases

Dissemination of HIV and AIDS information to communities and how it relates to proper nutrition

-gathers the nutrition related information throughout the district to facilitate the development of the nutrition data bank

Conducts nutrition education campaigns in liaison with the ministry of health-

-undertake home visits for follow up purposes on discharged patients to ensure proper eating practices

· Implementation of nutrition policy

-Develops nutrition operational work plan to provide guidance for smooth implementation of the policy

-Conducts workshops for nutrition field staff on nutrition systems so that they are well understood

-Monitors the utilization and performance of the set guidelines and unusual and recommend to the next supervision their and review and revision to facilitation.

Liaise with relevant ministry of Health FNCO to undertake campaigns. In Nutrition

· Household vegetable production

-collects data on cheap organic inputs to facilitate research and establishment of the most effective, best production methods

- impart skills and knowledge on the construction of new technologies of vegetable production

· Interprets to the field staff the developed guidelines the treatment of the most popular vegetables diseases and household garden management to promote increased vegetable production

· Intergrade the finding of research studies and conduct experimental tests in liaison with relevant officers in the discipline.

Promotion of small scale enterprises

· Ensure grain production as a means of basic food for both consumption and income generation purposes at household level.

. Facilitates proper harvest and and storage facilities of grains at household level.

. Provides the specific consultancy service to the traders on small scale enterprises in order to enhance profitability effectiveness of their business

· Collects data to facilitate the research studies on the local and readily available resources in order to encourage and advice producers on the establishment of small scale enterprises

· Interprets guidelines and training manuals on the success establishment development and management of the small scale enterprises to ensure that they are commonly understood

· Liaise with district field staff and Principal Nutrition Officers cottage industry to conduct research studies to determine both local and international potential market for the development of enterprises to promote their growth

· provides the specific consultancy service to the traders small scale enterprises in order to enhance profitability effectiveness and efficiency of their business

· monitors and evaluates the performance of the implementation of the small scale industry to establish their effectiveness as well as their potential to addressing economic and development needs in the country,

. Preparation of the district nutrition budget and ensure it disbursement to relevant requisitions made and smooth usage and compile a relevant report to the District Agriculture Officer.

Key responsibilities

· Facilitation of identification and prioritization of community problems through ALC approach

· Development facilitation and implementation of community action plan

-conducts demonstrations on the produced and modified recipes to promote their consumption

· Promotion of income generating activities

-sensitize the community on business opportunities available to them within their environment

· Nutrition information dissemination

-conduct campaign pertaining to specific nutrition issues to create awareness

-Training of interested groups in producing a market offer with a unique selling price and best value.

Participates in the preparation of radio slots programs in the area to ensure nutrition information is widely spread

· Preparation of sub sectional budget

-liaise with DNO office to compile the sectional budget and relevant stakeholders.

- Liaise with NGOs at resource center level to sensitize them on sub sectoral developments to facilitate consistency mutual support and synchronic implementation of nutrition program.
