"I'm currently enrolled in a pre-apprenticeship program at an Ontario Skills Trade School, where I'm gaining hands-on experience by performing a variety of tasks on school projects. I'm on track to graduate in April 2025." There are following duties I’m doing at school.
1. **Basic Electrical Theory**: Introduction to the principles of electricity, including voltage, current, resistance, and Ohm's Law.
2. **Safety Practices**: Emphasis on workplace safety, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), understanding Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, and learning about electrical hazards.
3. **Tools and Equipment**: Familiarization with the tools of the trade, such as wire strippers, pliers, screwdrivers, drills, and multimeters, as well as their proper use and maintenance.
4. **Electrical Wiring**: Basics of wiring, including how to read blueprints and electrical diagrams, and the installation of wiring, outlets, and switches.
5. **National Electrical Code (NEC)**: Introduction to the NEC, which sets the standards for safe electrical design, installation, and inspection to protect people and property from electrical hazards.
6. **Math for Electricians**: Essential math skills needed for electrical work, including algebra and trigonometry for calculating electrical loads and conduit bends.
7. **Circuitry**: Understanding of series and parallel circuits, circuit breakers, and fuses.
8. **Hands-On Practice**: Practical experience through lab work or simulated environments to apply the concepts learned in the classroom.
9. **Soft Skills**: Development of communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills that are crucial in the construction and electrical industries.
