Leadership Highlights

  • Co-lead for school-wide anti-black racism work, where we have developed an inquiry question - working with Dr. Nicole West-Burns - to disrupt anti-black racism in our school, so we can intentionally increase the sense of safety and well-being. Using Black student voices as a guide, we will collect the data to see how the intentional changes directly affect the school climate for Black, Indigenous and all racialized students within our School community.
  • Initiated, coordinated and co-created the Traumatic Brain Injury and Invisible Disabilities Awareness & Supports Working Group. To raise awareness and share effective, evidence-based ways to support students, families, and school staff in all aspects of the student's healing and learning journey
  • Aligned operational tasks, school processes, and related documents to capture the integration process for the merging of two High Schools, together with their diverse teams and structures, resulting in a detailed roadmap for future integrations
  • Developed a Mental Health & Wellbeing Program, to support learners transitioning back to day school by using a range of high-impact instructional and assessment practices and goal setting programming, to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Coordinated over 50 community agencies, trades, unions, apprentices, career agencies, colleges and universities to dismantle bias and support post secondary pathways and career planning for an annual Pathways Fair. From this Fair layout and model, the HDSB has scaled the model up to a Board-Wide Pathways Fair.
  • Created the GOAL Program, together with developing the GOAL leadership team and curriculum, which has re-engaged hundreds of learners to date by building an accountable, anti-racist and anti-oppressive culture that fostered culturally relevant and responsive curriculum and learning environments to meet the diverse needs of each learner
  • Facilitated and integrated Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) practices into the daily routine of educators and staff at Oakwood PS and Schools across HDSB, to dismantle practices and attitudes that marginalized certain learners, while increasing the sense of belonging and well-being aligning with School's SIPSA goals
