Summary

Meadowlands Preschool has become my home throughout my career as a Registered Early Childhood Educator. When accepting the position I had no idea how many ways working for Meadowlands Preschool would shape my life professionally.

I started my journey as a classroom educator. With my love of children and guiding them through educational experiences, I was able to work within all 6 classrooms in the centre. I spent time as an educator with each age group, Infant, toddler and preschool, so with my role as Supervisor I have been able to apply my classroom experiences when managing staff, with family engagement and maintaining the needs of the children within these age groups.

I worked my way from classroom educator to Assistant supervisor then to eventually centre Supervisor. This has been my most rewarding role. I have thrived as Meadowlands Preschool Supervisor, taking on any task, responsibility or challenge presented. Learning new skills daily, maturing, turning constructive criticisms into strengths.

I take great pride in my role. I have maintained all the required certificates to stay relevant. Also taking initiative for further learning and adding to my certificates. Most recently I completed a course on Effective Leadership to widen my mentoring skills. I pride myself on maintaining an open door policy for both the staff and parents of the children attending the centre.

I have many responsibilities within the daily operations of the centre, such as maintaining the health and safety of the children. Scheduling and monitoring the staff. Completing bi-weekly pay roles. The menu and grocery shopping weekly. Parent fee collection, logging fees, and tax receipts yearly. Ensuring programming is being completed and implemented by staff.

Classrooms are clean, organized and maintained. As well as emails, phone calls. Supervisor meetings, Licensing inspections, Public Health inspections. Monthly fire drills, yearly playground inspections. As well as any city requirements such as templates, reconciliations, and surveys. I am also responsible for maintaining enrolment and tours.
