Projects

Reinforcement Learning-based Optimization Framework for Application Component Migration in NFV Cloud-Fog Environments

  • Cisco and Ericsson funded project
  • Adopted an MDP framework and Designed a deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) algorithm empowered by LSTM memory cells.
  • The implementation was done in Python and utilized TensorFlow.

Cluster Migration of VNFs for Service Function Chain Embedding : 

  • Ericsson-funded project, implemented in Java
  • Investigated and solved using algorithmic and optimization-based solutions the problem of cluster migration of Network Function Virtualization.
  • Proposed efficient heuristic algorithms and demonstrated that the proposed algorithms reduce the total embedding cost by 14% compared to existing heuristics.

Joint VNF Decomposition and Migration for VNF Forwarding Graph Embedding : 

  • Ericsson-funded project, implemented and evaluated in Ericsson Testbed.
  • Propose efficient heuristics algorithms, resulting in a 62% decrease in the embedding cost compared to existing approaches.

h-Horizon Sequential Look-ahead Greedy Algorithm for VNF-FG Embedding:

  • Ericsson funded project, implemented and evaluated in Ericsson Testbed.
  • Design and implementation of a greedy-heuristic algorithm for VNF placement problem.

A platform as a service for IoT Hybrid Cloud/ Fog environment, 

  • A Cisco-funded project, implemented on Cloudify and Microsoft Azure.
  • Design and implementation a PaaS for IoT application provisioning for hybrid Cloud/Fog environment.
