Professional, career, and research objectives
• Champions the subject and ensures the delivery of the curriculum that is engaging and relevant for students in each division and grade level;
• Ensures that there is vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment (either Grades 3-6 or Grades 7-12); • Collaborates with their Subject Head counterpart;
• Ensures that both the curriculum and Essential Character Qualities for the subject are in accordance with The Crescent Way and Ministry of Education guidelines and policies (and College Board guidelines and policies for AP courses, where applicable);
• Oversees the Atlas Curriculum Management program for their subject and ensures that at all curricular and competency information is entered into this program each year;
• Keeps abreast of best practices and innovative activities and applies strategies to improve teaching, including appropriate cross-disciplinary initiatives and co-curricular activities;
• Ensures that key subject resources are current and renewed annually; facilitates the evaluation and implementation of new resources, technology, subject-specific equipment and teaching aids; • Leads the writing, production, approval and filing of subject exams Grades 7-12 and formative assessments in Grades 3-6;
• Facilitates regular subject meetings and documents and posts minutes;
• Manages, coaches and champions faculty in conjunction with the Division Head;
• Attends Subject Head meetings and takes responsibility for follow-up tasks;
• Participates in the hiring process for new members of her/his subject team, makes recommendations regarding staffing, and mentors new team members;
• Coaches members of the subject team, provide feedback and opportunities for growth; • Manages subject budgets and ordering of supplies, materials and other subject needs; • Coordinates with administration regarding course promotion and enrolment, to ensure that the appropriate number of students are registered and sections are offered for classes (Grades 7 -12).
• Liaise with the LMS project team to ensure the vision for the project is successfully translated into the requirements and needs for their division;
• Acts as a champion for their division by identifying and eliminating obstacles for faculty as they transition to the new LMS;
• Provide support to faculty members to answer questions and troubleshoot, or direct faculty for further support;
• Provides faculty with guidance and support on best LMS practices and standards;
• Support the Technology Integrator in creating and developing LMS training materials; • Provides timely and regular feedback to the project team regarding divisional updates; • Coordinate with the Technology Integrator and departments in setting up the Grade Book within Schoology.
