Work History

Postdoctoral Researcher

University of Ottawa
08.2024 - Current
  • Investigating changes in the immunological landscape following exposure to low dose radiation via scRNA-seq analyses. Partnered with the Canada Nuclear Laboratory. Recipient of the MITAC elevate award (CA 120,000 ~ 2025 - 2027)
  • Investigating next generation cancer treatment response in triple negative breast cancer (and potentially more cancer types) with researchers from Health Canada via scRNA-seq analyses.
  • Investigating hematopoietic stem cell chemotherapy resistance in acute myeloid leukemia. Collaborating with a well know lab from University of Toronto.
  • Designed and implemented enhanced visualization to present high-dimensional data in scRNA-seq analyses.
  • Provide troubleshooting to summer attachment Undergraduate students, Master students, and Ph.D. students for scRNA-seq analyses related problems (mainly for optimization of PCA, annotation, annotation validation, visualization) etc.
  • Unix (Alignment of 10X/DropSeq/MicrowellSeq .fastq data), R(Seurat, TooManyCells, SCTransform, Monocle3, SCENIC, Cellchat, Caret etc.)
  • Evaluate student performance during conferences/symposium or other academic events.
  • HPC via compute Canada to mainly transfer files between collaborating institutions.

Clinical Research Internship

The Chinese University of Hong Kong
06.2017 - 06.2019
  • Optimization of in-vitro-in-vivo correlations (IVIVC) to facilitate generic drug development for the local pharmaceutical industry.
  • Evaluated pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, cytotoxicity via surgeries (surgeries, monitoring, cell-culture, dissolution experiments, protein purification and mass spectrometry)
  • Designed and implemented clinical trials for Phase One evaluation of the developed generic drugs (Metformin, Diclofenac, Potassium) at the Prince of Wales Hospital.
  • Liaised between multiple academic, healthcare professionals and industrial parties to facilitate progress.
