Senior Engineering Technician

In addition to my previous duties as an Engineering Technician II, I am also involved with our interview panel for new hires and I have been performing more supervisorial duties. I work independently on my projects but assist my team as needed. I continue to work in the Geodetic Section for Transportation Improvement Projects helping both our Design team and Field Survey team.

As a Technician II, my responsibilities from Technician I became more advanced in that I have less supervision on certain tasks, the complexity of the type of work increased, and I assist in mentoring and answering questions for positions at the Engineering Aide and Technician I level. My duties continue as discussed in the Technician I classification. I am continuing to work on Legals & Plats, Right of Way Maps, Plotting Easements, in addition to creating Right of Way DGN's, alignments for projects, and other drafting related duties. I also help my team by conducting peer review for various Geodetic projects as needed. On a less frequent basis, I also continue to conduct research, create exhibits, and assist customer inquiries.

After transferring to the Survey office. I had progressively increased responsibilities which include the following: providing customer service to the public, researching for internal staff and the public, creating GIS exhibits, plotting Corner Records in GIS, updating, maintaining, and quality checking databases, reviewing Certificate of Compliance cases, and reviewing Record of Survey mylars. I also spent time searching for benchmarks in the field in order to update the benchmark database. After 9 months I moved to the Geodetic Section where I was checking, creating, and editing in MicroStation for Legals & Plats, Right of Way maps, and reviewing easements.

My responsibilities were progressively increased as I gained more knowledge and experience in the overall support of Field Surveys. I worked on projects involving but not limited to the following: construction staking, bridge staking, utility staking, slope staking, curb staking, topographic surveys, horizontal and elevation monitoring, various tasks involving monuments & benchmarks, creating field notes, and other duties.
