Summary

Thank you for taking a moment to stop by. I’m a new-grad mechanical engineer who lights up when a rough sketch becomes a working prototype. I strive to improve my skills every day, whether it is in mechanical, electronics, or programming. Teammates know me as a friendly listener, eager for feedback, and happiest when we’re solving problems together. My mission is to create innovative, reliable products that serve society, and to help build teams that grow stronger together.

Work History

Mechanical Design Engineer Student

Dometic Marine
Richmond, British Columbia
09.2024 - 12.2024
  • Performed mechanical design and engineering tasks for electric and hydraulic steering, and electric drive systems in boating applications, including maintenance, root cause analysis, 3D modeling (Creo), prototype assembly, testing, and tolerance analysis.
  • Designed fixtures, assembled, and tested the BLDC electric motor prototype of the boat's electric pod drive system. Performed a variety of mechanical and electrical tests, including destructive testing, dynamic seal testing, high-pot testing, and resistance testing, to assess system performance.
  • Conducted feasibility studies for a new BLDC motor design to be used in a geared electric actuator, including modeling, performing magnetic simulations (using FEMM and Octave), and optimization of various configurations, which is estimated to reduce manufacturing costs by 60% through improved manufacturability and labor time reduction.

Mechanical Design Engineer Student Part Time

Ngen Squared
Edmonton, Alberta
01.2024 - 09.2024
  • The machine designed a compact cutting table to automate stud cutting. Hardware used includes linear ball screw actuators, proximity sensors, pneumatic cylinders for clamping, and an electrical control panel with a protection circuit (fuses, circuit breaker, relays, HMI).
  • Used the RoboDK API and wrote Python macros to automate repetitive tasks in the RoboDK simulation. The script reduced offline programming time by 90% for construction robots.
  • Parametric modeling of different Ngen Squared products.

Mechanical Design Engineer Student

Cougar Drilling Solutions (now TAQA)
Edmonton, Alberta
05.2023 - 12.2023
  • Designed downhole tool parts and fixtures from concept generation to manufacturing, using concepts from machine element design, first principle calculations, GD&T, and FEA simulation.
  • Designed and created manufacturing drawings for a safe test rig that can withstand 5,000 psi pressure without oil leakage.
  • Designed and created a manufacturing drawing of a vibration test fixture that can withstand 20G of vibration in all three axes and 125 degrees Celsius.
  • Performed calculations and FEA simulations of the endless belt pulley current design to verify if it could still withstand a 1500 lb downhole tool weight when changing the material from steel to aluminum. The factor of safety is 4:1.

West LRT Line Project Management Student

City of Edmonton
Edmonton, AB
09.2022 - 12.2022
  • Coordinated contractors, prepared procurement documents, conducted safety assessments, assisted with scope charters, developed Gantt charts, monitored projects, and ensured quality assurance.
  • Projects included YMCA demolition, parking reconfiguration, hospital helipad, LRV storage, 5G installation, radio coverage, conduits, and camera installations.

Mechatronics Lab Researcher

University of Alberta
Edmonton, Alberta
05.2022 - 09.2022
  • Improved the capstone student project and prototyped a UAV payload using 3D printing. The new design simplified the geometry, which saved the material and reduced 3D print time by 40%. Integrated electronic components, which included an Arduino Nano board, a receiver, a transmitter, a motor controller, a magnetic encoder, an LCD display, and an RF module.

Skills

  • Mechanical engineering skills: CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo), CAM (Fusion 360), CNC Milling, GD&T, Tolerance Stack-up, FEA (Ansys and Inventor Nastran), CFD, Design and Manufacturing (DFMA), and Motor Design

Affiliations

  • Formula SAE manufacturing team member (Jan 2024-Sep 2024): Fabricated and assembled the suspension system using shop tools, CNC mill and fiber laser cutter .
  • Volunteer service technician at Cougar Drilling Solutions (May 2023-Jul 2023): Used power tools to assemble downhole tools, tested (torque and axial tests) and ensured tool quality before sending out to customers.
  • Volunteer Bike Mechanic at Edmonton Downtown Bike Community Workshop (Jul 2023-Dec 2023): Helped customers fix bikes and refurbish old bikes for sales.
  • Volunteer CNC Operator at Nexus CNC (Jan 2023-May 2023): Shadowed CNC operators to set up and run lathing and milling machine. Performed quality control (QC) for oil and gas CNC parts using measurement tools and prepared non-conformance report.
