Retail has been my business for the past 25 years. I have strong communication skills with both customers and team members. In my college years i acquired a different skill set. I did research for papers writing on multiple topics - and learning from different teaching styles. I also cultivated a love of travel and cooking. while it may appear that my skills are not transferrable to an office setting, I am a quick learner and I am deaill oriented.
The job description at the Garden Center is built upon customer service. Cashiering, answering phones, helping customers choose plants for their yards, diagnosing plant problems, and taking special orders. Stocking shelves and listening to concerns about insect damage damage and nutrition are also handled at the cashier level. More complex questions are handled by the more experienced outdoor staff.
Management Team - 14 years. This role includes hiring crew members, monitoring inventory levels, email correspondence with the main office and other store locations, cash management, scheduling, store maintenance, budget forecasting, increasing sales, and maintaining a high level of crew member/customer engagement.
Crew member - 11 years. Main skill set - Customer Service and team building. Stocking shelves, inventory management, crew member tastings, cashiering, and helping others complete tasks are at the core of the role. Creating relationships.
Building the brand - I opened 3 locations for the company - two in the Bay Area and one in South Carolina
