Coordinationroles

  • Coordinated the establishment the Career Development Centre in the College of Health Sciences, KNUST. This was part of the Malaria Capacity Development Consortium project funded by the Wellcome Trust and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
  • Coordinated research training activities and staff development workshops at the Career Development Centre for young researchers and University staff at KNUST and in Ghana at large.
  • In my Ph.D. studies, I have coordinated and developed a health literacy intervention at the community level in the management of malaria in children under five years in Ghana. We used a co-creation approach to develop this intervention.
  • Acquired project management skills from my Ph.D. studies as I developed the research idea, managed logistics, research staff, and budget for the study. Coordinated field work and co-creation approach, thus gaining experience in collaborating with stakeholders of different backgrounds.
  • Sub-committee Member (College of Health Sciences)- KNUST 9th SUMMER SCHOOL
  • Quality Assurance coordinator for Ensign Global College Quality assurance committee. I coordinated the process to acquire Charter status for the College from the Ghana Tertiary Education Council (GTEC).
  • Community Engagement Committee for Ensign Global College. I coordinated community engagement activities between Ensign and other institutions, such as Ghana Education Service through my collaborations with the School and Health Education Program lead, Health Promotion Units and District Health Directorate.
  • As one of the pioneers of the African Health Literacy Network (AHLN), I have coordinated and organized virtual seminars with a global target group.
  • African Health Literacy Network Conference. I was a part of a three-member team to organize the first Pan-African Health Literacy Conference. I spearheaded discussions and identification of key-note speakers for the conference.

Otherworks

  • Coordinated the Ensign Global College team to revise the MPH curriculum to meet the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) standards. Ensign Global College is currently the first and only CEPH-accredited institution in Africa.
  • Led and supervised a cohort of Masters students to tackle predominant adolescent health concerns in the Lower Manya Krobo District through the use of theory and school outreach. The District took up the recommendations and is currently implementing them.
  • In collaboration with the Japanese International Corporation for Family Planning (JOICFP), led and supervised a cohort of students to use Social Marketing theory and the Diffusion of Innovation approach to initiate strategies to promote the utilization of a Maternity Waiting Home at Akateng in the Upper Manya Krobo District. The Maternity Waiting Home is a Safe Motherhood Initiative cited close to a health facility to improve maternal health indicators for hard-to-reach populations. It serves as a waiting home for pregnant women who are almost due for delivery and is currently the only existing Facility in Ghana.
