  • Train/Guide new or Junior fabricators on best fabrication processes
  • Train non CWB certified staff to pass testing under CSA 47.1
  • QC of all fabricated parts and assemblies and ensuring all are with in tolerance allowed. Checking that the finish on the material is satisfactory for its application
  • Help Fabrication team Cut/Weld/Machine parts to ensure deadlines were met
  • Ensuring maintenance of all department machinery is done on its proper schedule. Trouble shoot any problems that may come with ware. Coordinate service if needed.
  • Make,lead and design improvements for the shop floor and layout. Utilize all space to allow for a dynamic work environment.
  • Perform R&D and make prototypes to advance fabrication techniques for future projects
  • Ensure that the department cleaning schedule is fallowed each day as to always leave the shop in a tour ready state
  • Coordinate with health and safety committee members and make sure all metal shop staff adhere to all measures that have been put into place.
  • Coordinate and discuss with design department if production drawings are inadequate or missing information
  • Coordinate with our CWB representative. Schedule aduits and ensure we are fully in compliance with the statutes of CSA 47.1 to maintain our certification
  • Take stock and purchase all consumables for the department

  • Fallow weld call outs on drawings and do so in an orientation that minimizes distortion and heat warping.
