I am currently employed as a Youth Worker at the Boys and Girls Club of Thunder Bay. I enjoy physical activity and being outdoors, as well as facilitating programs at BGC. Before applying for the Social Work Program at Lakehead I applied for the Computer Science Program and was accepted into the program before taking a gap year to focus on work and building my resume. During my time off school, I worked at the Boys and Girls Club of Thunder Bay, working their entirely changed what field I wanted to enter so once I was given the opportunity to apply to Lakehead again, I chose the Social Work Program. I have always worked well with children as I was the oldest cousin in my family, so I had experience of entertaining, talking, and problem solving with children, and my skills have grown working at BGC and volunteering at other organizations like Our Kids Count and facilitating the Game On! Program. One of the biggest skills I have learned at BGC is conflict resolution, whether its through training or in real world experience between the members, coming to a resolution that everyone is happy with is something I strive for whenever conflict arises. Working at the Boys and Girls Club has changed my life and I enjoy working with the staff and children there every single day.
