Elementary School Teacher

Clark County School District
08.2002 - 08.2010
  • During my time as a teacher I taught 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th grade. It was my job to plan and teach the state and federal standards. I also was lucky to be able to create fun ways to involve parents into their child’s education. I had a bi-weekly newsletter I sent home and a web page that both parents and students were able to access. I was the fifth grade chair-person for two years, which is the “lead” teacher of the group. During that time I was responsible to make sure the fifth grade teachers met at least once a week to do group planning and brainstorm ideas on how to reach all students in our classrooms. One year I was also part of the School Improvement Plan Committee. During my time as a teacher I honed my ability to think on my feet, adapt, and be an effective multi-tasker. I also am proficient using and teaching how to use Word, Power Point, Excel and Publisher. I also taught my students how to navigate the internet and how to create reports from the information they located after verifying the validity of the information. Of course as a teacher I also became well versed in performing clerical type activities such as taking phone calls, photocopying, filing, and emailing.
