When I started my grade 10 year of high school I worked a part time job most weekends with WJD Contracting. I worked almost every saturday and a lot of sundays building fences, decks, and retaining walls while also doing landscaping work for this company. Throughout this experience I acquired many skills that would be useful in a laborer position.
Halfway through the summer I started working for Doordash as a delivery driver. I worked most weekdays for about two months straight to save up for my university tuition.
During my grade 11 year of high school I also volunteered with Kumon to tutor kids in math. This included teaching students how to solve problems in one on one help sessions as well as marking homework sheets submitted by students.
For my grade 11 year of high school I was in the Duke of Edinburgh program where I was required to volunteer a certain number of hours before I received the award. I volunteered in many events such as soup kitchens, desert theaters, and student tutoring which were organized through the school. Unfortunately due to the pandemic the program was cut off in march of 2020 so I was not able to receive the award for the program.
