Müge Büyükçelen is a versatile and passionate violinist, known for exceptional performances across multiple genres. She has premiered Jared Miller's violin concerto, dedicated to her, and showcased her talent through the Beethoven violin concerto. Müge has successfully toured in Australia and New Zealand and performed new works by renowned composers like Jennifer Butler, Paul Frehner, and Michael Finnissy. She has collaborated with the Emily Carr String Quartet in concerts and contributed to their album "Beloved of the Sky," featuring compositions by Canadian artists Iman Habibi, Tobin Stokes, Jocelyn Morlock, and Jared Miller. This album received a nomination for "Best Classical Album in 2024." Additionally, Müge's recording titled "Spanning Tree" earned a nomination for "Best Classical Album in 2022" at the Western Classical Music Awards. Currently, she is an active member of the Victoria Symphony, Emily Carr String Quartet, and Aventa Ensemble. Müge also imparts her expertise as a dedicated violin teacher at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Throughout her career, she has been featured as a soloist with orchestras worldwide and premiered notable works like "Archimedes' Codex" by composer Michael Oesterle and Cameron Wilson's "Canadian Four Seasons." Müge's contributions to the music community extend beyond performing, as she has served as a jury member for prestigious competitions like "The Eckhardt-Gramatte National Competition," "Friends of Canadian Music Award," 'Juno Awards" and "BC Arts Council." She has also adjudicated at various music festivals. Prior to her time in France, Müge was selected to be part of the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra. She holds a Masters degree in music performance from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, an associate teaching diploma from the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and was a teaching assistant student at the Toulouse National Conservatory in France.
