My English given name is Melissa Jean McClurg. My traditional name is Naw-Hea'Mowha and I am from the Songhees first nation. I have lived on Vancouver Island almost my entire life and I love being on our homelands and working within our community.
I am an optimistic and personable individual who is enthusiastic about meeting new people. I have strong presentation skills and real go-getter with excellent public speaking skills and knowledge of Songhees culture, history, and historical sites.
• Created agendas, recorded meeting minutes, and handled all communication with the team and materials for team meetings.
• Worked closely with team members to inform of delivery and project requirements, develop solutions for arising gaps.
• Public speaking and managing room attention during every workshop.
• Developed and then shared my personal story and lived experiences within workshops, conferences, and events.

I worked part time in this job Supporting 7 peers and was apart of 3 other teams. My roles were; Peer Support Worker, Speaker for the GVCEH Speakers Bureau, First aid attendant on Emergency shelter during a pandemic.
· Attend and prepare for bi-weekly training workshop meetings, plan individual one on one meetings with peers.
· Provide feedback for ongoing program development and service delivery.
· Trusted to distribute cash, bus tickets and prepaid grocery cards, and assist my peers when shopping.
· Provide one-to-one support with the group of peers when requested.
· Helped develop program framework, and peer-centered philosophy within organization policies.
· Held effective time management and applied boundary setting skills while providing support for peers and the Residential Advisory Committee in the shelter sites.
