Senior Manager, CBC Design

Manage a diverse team of Art Directors and Designers who create content across multiple platforms for News, Current Affairs, Sports and Marketing and Communications.

  • Provided strong leadership to enhance team productivity and morale of 45+ employees.
  • Laid groundwork for a team to test and implement new emerging virtual set technologies.
  • Successfully transitioned CBC's design team serving multiple platforms to a completely remote operation in under two weeks at the start of the pandemic.
  • Oversaw Vizrt design team who are responsible for creating template packages for our news programs for automated control room and in edit suite production. This includes data integration and touchscreen solutions for provincial and federal elections.
  • Researched and implemented new augmented reality solutions for our federal election coverage and National news program.
  • Established digital design team to support our daily CBC.ca teams and social teams. The team has successfully embraced use of data tools and developed solutions to create responsive graphics.

  • Executed appropriate staffing and budgetary plans to align with business forecasts for all departments under my hierarchy.
  • Project Manager for CBC News centralization project that required building eight fully automated control rooms and implementing new workflows to support all of CBC News in Toronto and across 6 regions.
  • Executed the graphics strategy for the 2019 Federal election, this included a new upgraded "data driven augmented reality" solution for election results. Updated data driven onscreen elements and helping to support the onset interactive touchscreen solution.

  • Established and led CBC’s technical internship program for 10+ years. A initiative that has helped develop the careers of many of CBC's operational leaders.
