Melanie Brideau

Driven and collaborative, I excelled in the tour band, effectively managing tasks and supporting the band's objectives. With a keen eye for detail and a positive attitude, I significantly contributed to the success of our events, demonstrating both teamwork and organizational skills while maintaining high standards of skill and quality.

I am a percussionist in the Williams Lake Secondary Senior Tour Band. I play all the drums, including the bells, auxiliary percussion, congas, and snare. Our percussion section is located at the back of the band. Percussionists play a crucial role in keeping the band on time and ensuring that the music is performed at the correct tempo.

Being a percussionist has taught me patience, teamwork, and how to contribute effectively while helping others. Being part of the tour band has provided me with many enjoyable opportunities. For example, at the end of the school year, we visit elementary schools to perform for the kids. This allows them to experience teamwork and see how important it is to trust your fellow musicians to create beautiful harmony.

We also travel to other cities to perform, brightening people’s days with our music. Additionally, we host a concert at our school to showcase the songs we’ve learned and raise money for new resources for future students.

Being in the tour band has been incredibly fun, and I’ve made many exciting new friends along the way. I can’t wait for the next opportunity to work with the tour band.

I have been learning French since kindergarten. Over the years, I have developed strong skills in writing, speaking, and conversing in French. I have no trouble communicating in French or engaging in conversations.

In my French class, we had the opportunity to visit Quebec and Montreal to deepen our understanding of French culture and history. This trip allowed us to experience firsthand how French is spoken and learned in different regions. It was an invaluable experience to explore these places and learn about their rich histories.
