Dedicated and enthusiastic nursing student currently working towards a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Douglas College. Has an eagerness to learn and is looking for more hands-on experience to grow as a nursing student. Enjoys working individually and with a team utilizing interprofessional collaboration and therapeutic communication.
Placement for 7 weeks is in the Pediatric unit and another 7 weeks in the Maternity unit. Where I will complete approximately 84 hours in each unit. Applying my nursing knowledge at a semester 3 level for pediatric and maternity patients by creating care plans, conducting family orientated assessments, administering PO/IV/IM medications, and using therapeutic communication with children and family members.
Placement was on the medical/surgical floor at Abbotsford regional hospital where I logged approximately 189 hours and cared for pre-operative and post-operative patients. I applied my nursing knowledge and skills at a semester 1 and 2 level, where I completed holistic nursing assessments, administered subcutaneous injections, IV medications, PO medications, and completed, dressing changes, foley catheterizations, staple removals, ostomy care, NG placement and discharge teaching.
Placement was at Peace Arch hospital in the acute care unit and rehab unit where I logged approximately 189 hours. At a semester 1 level I applied head-to-toe assessments, basic care, mobilization and PO medications.
