First year student at Cal Poly Pomona majoring in Animal Science on the pre vet track. Growing up in an Egyptian and Lebanese household taught me resilience and the importance of showing up for others. I’m someone who learns quickly and stays calm under pressure, but I’m also outgoing and easy to work with. My experiences from balancing school, work, and volunteering to helping my family whenever needed have made me organized and disciplined. I take pride in putting in effort, being respectful, and bringing positive energy to every environment. I’m committed to growing both personally and professionally and I aim to give my best in any job or opportunity I take.
Volunteered and shadowed at Alta Loma Animal Hospital for four years, completing over 1,000 hours of hands-on experience. During that time, I watched many surgeries, such as spays, neuters, and mass removals, and saw how the doctors worked in the surgery room. I helped in treatment by holding animals safely, correctly giving subcutaneous shots, applying medications, cleaning ears, trimming nails, and helping with basic procedures. I also went into exam rooms with the doctor, listened to him talk to owners, and sometimes talked to the owners myself to help get the patient history. I watched grooming, and learned how to handle animals in a gentle, low-stress way. Overall, I spent years over the summer, winter, or any break I got from school, working closely with the doctors and techs, helping whenever I could, and learning what day-to-day life in a real animal hospital is like.
Working at Juice It Up in Rancho Cucamonga gave me strong experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. I regularly handled multiple tasks at once—such as cashiering, cleaning, and making drinks—while still maintaining accuracy and great customer service. I collaborated well with my team, communicated clearly, and stepped in to offer support whenever needed. I also helped with daily store operations to keep everything running smoothly and efficiently. The job required flexibility, and I often worked nights, weekends, and holiday shifts. I quickly adapted to new tasks, learned procedures quickly, and consistently met tight deadlines. Overall, this experience strengthened my teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, while showing that I can thrive under pressure.
As a youth leader at my church, I’ve spent the past few years supporting kids who face language barriers and helping them feel included and understood. I’ve also taken role in organizing food drives and donation events throughout the year making sure children and families in our community have what they need during the Christmas and Thanksgiving seasons.
Helped my uncle run his Mediterranean shawarma food-truck business, where I cleaned, took customer orders, and helped keep the truck organized. He started the business to share our Egyptian and Middle Eastern food with people from different countries, and being part of it helped me stay connected to my culture.
