Summary

Hello, my name is Maya Ellison, and I’m currently an undergraduate student majoring in Applied Biology at the University of British Columbia. I’m especially interested in the intersection of design, science, and international relations. After graduating high school in 2022, I took a gap year and attended Yonsei University’s Korean language school in Seoul. Living alone in a fast-paced city and connecting with peers from around the world reshaped my worldview. I joined the Yonsei rowing team, where I had to communicate in Korean despite my beginner-level skills. It was intimidating, but it exposed me to new cultures, global perspectives, and the value of interdisciplinary learning. I now navigate my studies, work, and personal life with better adaptability skills and authenticity.
