  • I started Max's Mushrooms ltd in 2005 and sold the company Oct 2023.
  • The Business started with "In Person" introduction of myself and what I had to offer for sale.
  • I found that there was a market to sell fresh produce and fruit to numerous Grocery retailers, restaurants, and smaller wholesalers with our niche, Grower to Customer overnight deliveries.
  • Over 18 years my company has served the original clients and many new ones along the way with personal attention and increased sales for 100k 1st year to over 2 million annually.
  • Over the years I have built a network of relationships that span a variety of business owners ranging from retailers, growers/farmers to the building industry. as I have built my own home as well as opening 14 restaurants from scratch. I am very familiar with dealing with government agencies, such as building and planning departments etc.


  • My success in business is a result of insuring customer satisfaction.This translated into an ongoing business relationship over 4 decades. This included many customer demands, complaints and resolutions, marketing ideas etc etc.
  • I can clearly see the opportunity for Siteone wanting to get into the upper Vancouver Island market. The abundance of business sales potential that could be realized is endless. From my numerous retail accounts, that could sell anything from batteries to you name it, numerous grower connections that have 1000's of acres of land and greenhouses needing irrigation equipment,(Pumps, Pipe) infestation maintenance etc etc.
  • The connections I have with several builders, contractors, landscapers, excavation companies, Deck and Patio businesses, golf course (Alberni), Plumbers, Realtors, not to mention personal home and business owners in the Alberni area, would give me a personal advantage for sales opportunities, In my local area alone.
  • I see great potential in remote native reserve areas on the West Coast of Vancouver Island as well as Tofino, Ucluelet Bamfield, and of course the East side From Duncan, Nanaimo,Courtenay, Campbell River and north to Port hardy Port Mcneil, Alert Bay.
  • I could see myself creating accounts on the Island for the next 3 to 5 years and my ultimate goal would be to train 1 of my 6 boys that would be ideal in this business as he is currently in construction.

And work of course, which is also a big passion. As mentioned earlier I had opened 14 restaurants spanning 2 provinces and 2 countries. From Mexico to the Whitehorse Yukon. Several cities in B.C and Calgary Alberta. Mostly Italian food, such as Pizza and Pasta. Some locations were dine In and others strictly take out and delivery. Fast food drive In as well as a Rotisserie location. 4 of the aforementioned Restaurants were in Port Alberni. I built all these places from scratch, did most of the renovations myself, trained staff and did all the cooking with my helpful staff. I had over 400 employees during my 20 years in the restaurant  business and 1 is still working for the company that I just sold.
