Victim Offender Mediator

Restorative Justice Partners Inc.
03.2015 - 08.2017
  • Brought together the community to support those representing the role of victims, offenders, families, and other key stakeholders in a restorative justice process to help those who have offended understand the implications of their actions and provide those who have been victimized a voice in the restitution.
  • Ensured all of the details of the restorative justice agreement are successfully fulfilled for the case to be closed and the youth cleared of the charges.
  • Worked with the Monterey County Probation Department's Restorative Justice Coordinator to provide Merchant Accountability Panels aimed at addressing youth shoplifting. Youth shop lifters are held accountable in a highly successful mediation process that brings a group of 4-6 youths to meet with the Merchant Representatives in a restorative, non-threatening venue. Each youth has the opportunity to tell his/her story and to listen to the Merchant Representative explain the consequences of their offense on the store’s employees, management, the community, the police, and their families. Restitution is agreed upon and, usually, a letter of apology is written by the youth to the Merchant Representative.
  • Promoted Restorative Justice Partners Inc. and the restorative justice process at Monterey Peninsula College and Hartnell College classrooms
