Summary

My goal has always been to teach English so I specifically selected a degree that would build upon my native English speaking skills and give me a comprehensive grasp on the language to ensure I can confidently and effectively teach. My degree has also prepared me for work outside of the education sector and equipped me with a vast array of skills with classes such as Language of Advertising, Language of Media and even Language of Law ensuring flexibility and the chance to expand into a variety of different employment opportunities. Teaching here in Munakata has helped deepen my understanding of how public schools here in Japan operate and more importantly, how to effectively interact and communicate with students. Furthermore, my experiences living abroad in 4 different countries including the United States and Japan ensures that I am able to adapt to new cultures and environments incredibly quickly and thrive in any location.

Work History

Teaching Assistant Intern

GHJ International
Fukuoka, Munakata
01.2025 - Current

I am currently doing a teaching assistant internship in Munakata Fukuoka. I have taught several English classes in various public schools around the area while working towards obtaining my TEFL certification in the evening. I have experience teaching a variety of ages ranging from 4th to 8th grade

Linguistics Office Intern

DLSU DEAL
Metro Manila
06.2024 - 10.2024

Worked as an intern at the linguistics department of De La Salle University. I was mainly responsible for the creation of promotional materials and the vetting of papers for an upcoming linguistics conference taking place at the university. I also assisted and attended several smaller linguistics presentations throughout the year

Hospitality Worker

Ten to Ten Hostel
Sapporo, Hokkaido
12.2019 - 12.2020

I used to work as cleaning staff at a hostel in Sapporo while I studied Japanese, this was both to help cover the slightly higher cost of living in Japan as well as to help learn the language. It helped me learn to be a team player and a hard worker since all the hostel staff were rather close and I did not want anyone to have to suffer if my work was not up to standard.
