My current duties include supervising inmates, enforcing rules and regulations, conducting searches, and responding to emergencies. I ensure the well-being of inmates and staff while promoting a secure environment. Additionally, I assist in ensuring inmates have access to necessary needs such as hygiene supplies, request forms, health care requests as well as available programs and contact information for legal aid. I also maintain detailed records of inmate activities and complete incident reports when required as well as any institutional charges that fall under a breach of correctional institutional regulations. My role requires strong communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the welfare of all individuals under my care, custody and control. In my current role as a Correctional Peace Officer 2, I have the chance to mentor and guide new recruits, passing on valuable knowledge and skills to help them succeed in their roles.
