The security position is under the Grand River Conservation Authority and takes place at Guelph Lake in Guelph, ON. As a security guard I am required to report to the Property Superintendent and has the responsibility of enforcing the policies and regulations within the GRCA grounds.
Everyday responsibilities include regular patrols of the Conservation Area, which includes forest areas, beaches and camping grounds. Respond to complaints made by patrons who are enjoying the Conservation Area, which includes any conflict between two parties, assisting with payments and handling money and any general inquiries that need attending to.
This position requires a private Security and Investigative Services Act License.
The Fieldhouse at the University of Guelph is an indoor recreational facility located on campus. The Fieldhouse includes an indoor track and turf field that hosts drop in rec times, varsity training sessions and private rentals (soccer clubs, track clubs, events...).
The job of Fieldhouse staff members is to monitor all rentals that take place during the day, as well as process transactions for customers. This includes using standard POS systems to sell recreational passes and properly log all activity that goes on in the facility.
During summer months when outdoor soccer fields, baseball diamonds and beach volleyball courts are open, the job of Fields staff is to properly run all games, practices and events that go on. This includes varsity games and other rentals. Field staff members also maintain fields with standard grounds maintenance machines (weed whacker, leaf blower...).
I work for First Choice Finishing when ever I am available or needed to work This is primarily a home finishing company which includes painting the interior and exterior of houses, drywall work, deck building and sanding, flooring (hardwood)
This job is usually long hours doing tasks where I am needed to lift, bend and reach and is physically demanding. The job also requires precise accuracy and attention to detail to ensure the best work.
Often times I am required to interact with customers who has trusted me to do the best job I can and answer any questions they may have and ensure that they made the correct choice.
