Public Speaking Engagements & Workshop Facilitation

Speaker, Queer Connections Lanark

Shared my personal story, as a representative and member of the leadership group for Ottawa Pride Hockey, and discussed the value of sport and physical activity in coping with minority stress and building self-confidence.

Panelist, The Ottawa Hospital

I had the pleasure of speaking about gender affirming care, through the lens of both a trans person and a psychotherapist working with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and was given an opportunity to engage TOH staff in discussion around actionable steps that can be taken to improve access and quality of care.

Workshop Facilitation, Various Organizations

Integrative Healthcare Professionals: Identifying 2SLGBTQIA+ Needs & Fostering Ongoing Discussion - created and facilitated a professional development workshop for healthcare professionals.

Anxiety in Children & Youth - created and facilitated a professional development workshop for educational staff at an elementary school.

Gender Identity & Sexual Orientation - provided in-class workshops on gender identity and sexual orientation to students in grades 5-8.

Supporting the Diverse Needs of Exceptional Students - created and provided a full day workshop, for educators, that covered a variety of topics including: integrating social and emotional learning in the classroom, complex behavioural challenges, communication with students and families related to mental health and well-being, and supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ students at an individual and community level. I have offered a series of full day workshops, at a local Ottawa school, every August for the past three years.

Guest Lecturer, Saint Paul University

I was given the opportunity to lecture on the inclusive psychotherapeutic practices related to working with Trans* and LGBTQ+ identified clients in the individual counselling practicum classes for current second-year M.A. students. The lectures were 3 hours in length and culminated with an experiential component. Presentation information is available upon request.
