I recently completed my employment contract with the Operating Engineers Training Institute of Ontario (OETIO). It was a highly rewarding experience.
As an Instructional Designer, I was responsible for designing, installing, testing and maintaining the OETIO curriculum. In my role, I created complete training curriculum, deliverable both in-person or online classes. Design and application of assessments to meet the learning objectives and training competencies set by the Ministry of Labour was my driving principles.
As a project lead, I was responsible for building online courses for the college. My Instructional design team includes a Course Builder, a Multimedia Specialist, and a Web Developer. With my team, I was successful to build and deliver workable online courses (synchronous, asynchronous) while applying the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
My employment at the Office of Digital Learning (ODL) was a student position because of my immigration status in the USA. My involvement was limited to 20 hours per week as per the regulation. But I had successfully performed all the tasks of a full-time Instructional Designer.
My job responsibilities as Multimedia Journalist included reporting news content, photography, and production of investigative ‘human-angle’ video stories for the special project named ‘The Invisibles.’
My job responsibilities as Cage Operations and Inventory Coordinator include maintaining and managing broadcast equipment and studio facilities, in addition to training journalism students in broadcast production methods, including audio techniques, lighting, studio setup, and shooting video.
I served as a graduate teaching assistant throughout my master’s program. Effectively taught and managed undergraduate students in the classroom and in the field.
I produced news stories, researched and investigated information for longer stories, and produced documentaries on various issues, including human trafficking, drug trafficking, business malpractice, and more.
Edited footage to create videos for multiple multimedia platforms.
